Coordinator of Student Services Mackay School of Earth Sciences & Engineering/168 College of Science University of Nevada Reno, NV 89557-0047 775-327-2056 rumph@mines.unr.edu ----- Original Message ----- From: Steve Hart To: Leslie Rumph (UNR--Mackay School) (rumph@mines.unr.edu) Sent: Wednesday, October 06, 2004 9:48 AM Subject: UNR Job Notice Leslie...I'd appreciate it if you would help me get the word out on this: The State of California will soon be hiring Field Engineers into the Cal/OSHA Mining and Tunneling Unit. A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, the Earth Sciences, Safety or Industrial Hygiene will be considered--acceptable experience or CSP certification may be partially substituted in lieu of education. Candidates should have at least 4 years experience in Tunnel Construction, Mining, Industrial Hygiene, or Safety. Positions will be offered in Northern California, Central California and Southern California. The Mining and Tunneling Unit performs routine inspections at surface and underground mines, as well as at tunnels under construction in California. The Unit is also responsible for the more difficult and technical investigation of accidents and complaints, and the prosecution of citations in Civil Court. Significant automobile travel should be expected, as engineers must travel from their office to the often-remote locations of California mines and tunnels. State service offers a wide variety of challenges throughout California. The Mining and Tunneling Unit plays a key role in helping mine and tunnel employees work safely. The State of California has wonderful medical and retirement plans, and a career in State Service is far more secure than most in private industry. This is a great place to build a career, a place where, every day, you have the opportunity to do the right thing. Interested and qualified individuals should immediately Fax their resume to Steve Hart, Principal Engineer of the Mining and Tunneling Unit, at 530-895-6941. Thanks. Steve
