JOB TITLE: Research Data Analyst EDUCATION: M.S. in Geophysics/Seismology preferred EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Regular, full-time, non-exempt WORK SCHEDULE: Shift work involved OPENING DATE: 22 January 2003 CLOSING DATE: 1 May 2003 JOB SUMMARY: This position is critical to the operation of the United States National Data Center at the Air Force Technical Applications Center (AFTAC), Patrick Air Force Base, Florida. ENSCO employs a group of experienced seismic and hydroacoustic data analysts that have supported AFTAC for many years. The group provides 24 hour 7 day a week support to the United States National Data Center in the following areas: - Perform regional and teleseismic waveform analysis and evaluation on selected areas of the world. - Support the analysis and evaluation of events of special interest. - Perform regional and global teleseismic analysis during periods of manpower shortages and/or periods of high seismic activity. - Design and conduct experiments to evaluate the operational performance of new stations, processing algorithms, etc. - Review on-line station performance on a daily basis using various criteria (e.g., station signal-to-noise). QUALIFICATIONS: - A Masters degree in earth or physical sciences strongly preferred. - Experience in analysis of seismic and/or hydroacoustic waveform data. - Experience using the UNIX operating system (SUN/Solaris). - Strong verbal and written communication skills. - Must be a US citizen and must meet requirements for access to classified information.
