Rock Valley Area Earthquakes 1992-1995
Earthquakes of the central Nevada Test Site from 1978 through
June 29, 1992 on a shaded relief image. Magneta symbols are the
locations of earthquakes of M 3 and greater as reported in the
Southern Great Basin Earthquake Catalog. Blue symbols are earthquakes
less than M 3.0. The large magenta symbol is the location of the
M 5.6 June 29, 1992 Little Skull Mountain earthquake. These
are relocated earthquakes from the catalog and represent the
highest quality locations from the relocated set. The Rock
Valley fault zone trends northeast-southwest through the center
of the image. Mapped Quaternary faults are labeled in red. The image
is in a UTM projection with the reference grid at 5 km intervals.
