B.S. Geology with distinction and honors, Stanford University, Stanford California, 1967.  Ph.D. Geology, Stanford University, Stanford, California, 1972.  Current Position: Professor of Geology, University of Nevada, Reno, Nevada; July, 1982 -present.     Department Chairman, June 1993-present.  1994 - present: UNR Foundation Professor.  Research:
Principally structural geology, stratigraphy, tectonics, and crustal evolution in Nevada, California, Alaska, Newfoundland, Antarctica, Scotland, and the Mediterranean for over 25 years; 47 refereed journal articles and symposium papers, 11 field trip guide books, and 60 abstracts. Received and directed research on over $1,158,002 in competitively awarded research grants and contracts since 1987. Served on National Science Foundation Advisory Panels from 1988-1991, Associate Editor of Geological Society of America Bulletin, 1981-1988, Geological Society of America--Cordilleran Section Vice-Chairman, 1992, and Chairman, 1993.
