The University of Nevada Seismological Laboratory recorded an earthquake of M = 4 in Dixie Valley, approximately 50 km (30 mi) east of Fallon, Nevada, at 5:37 AM (PDT) today, April 19. The location of the event is 39.690N, 118.050W. The depth was computed to be approximately 17 km (11 mi), but depth is not well determined due to lack of near recording stations.
The earthquake occurred in a remote location, and no damage reports have been received at the Seismological Laboratory.
