The Nevada Seismological Laboratory recorded an earthquake of M = 3.6 at 7:02 AM (PDT) Friday, June 23, near Minden-Gardnerville, Nevada. Another event of M = 3.3 at 6:55 AM preceded it. The preliminary location of the larger event is 38.75N, 119.61W, just north of Topaz Lake. The depth was computed to be approximately 9 km (6 mi). Today's earthquakes occurred in the aftershock zone of a M = 6.0 earthquake on September 12, 1994 (Double Spring Flat Earthquake). We have received several felt reports from Markleeville and the Minden-Gardnerville area on today's earthquake. Due to its relatively small size, we expect no damage.
