Statement of Teaching Philosophy
I would like to teach my students
‘the pleasure of finding things out’ in Geophysics. I would like to share
the fact that complicated things in science start to become simple with
accumulation of knowledge and simple things can prove to be surprisingly
complicated when taking a closer look.
I would like to teach my students that
in research, in any other discipline, things that don’t fit to the
conventional knowledge are the most interesting.
I will be happy when all my students,
whether interested in mainly geophysics or other fields, find useful and
challenging information and activities in my class. The proportion of general
and advanced information in a class presentation, as well as in the content of
the course notes have to be put together according to the interests and
background of the audience.
I believe open communication and
feedback between the students and the instructor is the key for a quality
education.
