POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH POSITION/UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO A postdoctoral research position in seismology at the University of Colorado at Boulder will be available starting in January 2010. The position is associated with the Bighorns EarthScope project, an integrated geological and geophysical investigation of contractional basement-involved foreland arches. The research in the Rocky Mountain Bighorn Arch of northern Wyoming and southern Montana combines geological investigations of surface geometries and kinematic indicators with geophysical imaging of 3D crustal and upper mantle geometries from a densely sampled active/passive seismic experiment. The postdoctoral researcher will work on developing and testing methods for combining active and passive source seismic data to produce high resolution images of the crust and upper mantle, with particular emphasis on crustal anisotropy and the depth extent of faults and distributed deformation.
