A post-doctoral research position in seismology is expected to become available in the Department of Geoscience, University of Wisconsin- Madison, beginning in fall 2009. The position is a full-time 9-month appointment, with the opportunity of continuation, as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate. The position will be subject to state-mandated furlough of 2 days per each 3 months of appointment. The successful applicant will participate in two or more projects, including research on subduction zones, volcanic earthquakes, and geothermal site characterization. The expected starting salary is in the range $41,000 to $43,000, depending on qualifications and experience. The position is most appropriate for candidates not more than 2 years past the Ph.D. Completion of all Ph.D. requirements is necessary at the time of appointment. The starting dates for the positions are somewhat flexible, but preferably between August 15, 2009 and September 15, 2009.
