1997 Activities

CREG is a partnership established in mid-1996 between the Minerals Industry, U.S. Geological Survey, Nevada Bureau Mines & Geology, and the Department of Geological Sciences, UNR. Its purpose is to provide funding for graduate education in Economic Geology and to focus on research related to ore deposits. The practical training of graduate students as well as their interaction with industry geologists provides an experience that is not common in university programs.

The 1997 calendar year was the first full year of CREG research activity. Ten funded projects highlight the year's activities. Projects focused on regional as well as detailed individual ore system studies and are listed below. Research reports were included in an Annual Research Meeting-1997 volume of 150 pages provided to all sponsors. Donations from sponsors totaled $193,250.00.
