The map below plots earthquakes having magnitudes above 5.0 recorded from the 1860s through 1992 in the Reno-Carson region as the larger red and brown diamonds. Earthquakes below magnitude 5.0 (the small yellow, green, and blue diamonds) have only been catalogued in this area since about 1970. County lines are black, and fault lines are brown.
