    	  An aftershock of the September 12  Double Spring Flat earth-
	  quake,  with local Richter magnitude 4.3, occurred at 8:07
	  PDT on Sunday, October 10, at 38.769N, 119.602W at a depth
	  of  approxi- mately  3  mi.  This location is within
	  approximately 4 miles of the main shock on September  12.
	  The  Seismological  Laboratory continues to record several
	  aftershocks per hour from this earth- quake sequence, but
	  this aftershock is one of  the  larger  ones.  Aftershocks
	  of this size are not unexpected for a main shock the size
	  of the September 12 event.
