DLC Examples
Here are some examples, from simple to more complex:
- Example 1: - Normal Fault
- Model containing a single dislocation representing a normal fault.
Displacement field is sample at a point and on horizontal and vertical
observation grids. Illustrates use of makemodel, elfpoint, elfgrid,
modellines, displines, gclrx, pi2ps.
- Example 2: - Northridge Earthquake
- Model of the Northridge earthquake, based on early hypocentral and
focal mechanism information from Berkeley. Delta_CFF is calculated on
optimal failure planes at 10km depth and for E-W striking reverse faults
at 10km depth. Illustrates makemodel, elfgrid, stroop, strop,
modellines, bblines, gclrx.
- Example 3: - Landers Earthquake
- Explores the stress effect of the Landers earthquake on a simple
model of the San Andreas fault. Uses lnprj, lnsegment, segs2dlc,
elfpatch, xss.
- Example 4: - Utah Faults
- Simple model of faults in Utah, showing effect of hypothetical
earthquake on Wasatch fault on nearby faults. (Made with the help of
Walt Arabasz and Wu-Lung Chang.) Shows use of lnconvert, lnprj,
lnsegment, segs2dlc, elfpatch, xss.
