This begins a quick review of why Nevada has earthquakes. On this world map, dark blue spots are earthquakes. They form bands around the earth which show the boundaries of the tectonic plates. Thus, we see that Nevada is near the boundary of two major plates, one containing the North American continent, and the other containing much of the Pacific Ocean. Later slides will look at this in more detail.
